The great Indian patriot Lokmanya Tilak and eminent businessman Munmohandas Ramji, amongst others conceived the idea of a chain of co-operative stores across India. Bombay Swadeshi Co-operative Stores Co. Ltd thus came in to existence on 14th December 1905. On 17th December 1906 Dr. Dadabhai Naoroji inaugurated the flagship store. The year 1963 was a landmark in the history of the company as it became the first retail organization to be listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange. It then came to be knows as the "Bombay Swadeshi Stores Ltd".
In the present age of globalization, the Swadeshi movement has little significance. As the store now caters to an audience with a contemporary mindset, the brand was re-christened in 1995 as "The Bombay Store."
With the winds of change sweeping the country once again exactly a century after it was born, The Bombay Store is set to re-invent itself and evolve into a major national and international lifestyle retailer.
The Bombay Store Deals in categories like Artifacts, Apparels, Bed & Bath, Fashion, Tableware and Wellness. With more than 60000+ products we have a lot to offer our customers in terms of products, right up to services like customized gift wrapping also for large quantities.
